About Ed Morrison, M.Div.

I'd like to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding. John O'Donohue

Ed Morrison, M.Div.

I’ve been helping people with relationship problems for over forty years. I keep learning, and enjoy what I do. I worked first as a pastoral counselor, then as a psychotherapist, and now as a coach. I’ve shifted to coaching because it became clear that most of the couples I work with aren’t helped by a medical model or diagnosis.

Applying what I’ve learned to my own marriage has clearly made me a better partner to my wonderful wife.

I’ve been in private practice in Bellevue, and now North Bend, for over twenty-five years. Before my private practice, I was a counselor for a charity hospital, ran a shelter for adolescents, and did a brief stint taking crisis calls after hours for DSHS.

Born in Seattle, I grew up in Renton, went to college in Illinois, grad school in Atlanta, and wound up working in Mississippi. I met my wife, Carol, there, brought her here for a two week vacation, and she didn’t want to go back. She brought me home to the Northwest. For thirty years I’ve been back to the good rain, rivers, and mountains I love. Fly fishing and handyman/woodworking are major parts of my spiritual sustenance. I am blessed to live on a river.

My wife, family, and friends are my greatest gifts, and the people I’ve met in my practice have shaped me more than books and classes. I’ve also had wonderful teachers, mentors, and a couple of masters.
